Dr. Shaikh is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist based in Chicago, IL. She is experienced in working with diverse populations in settings such as hospitals, community mental health centers, schools, and private practice. The cornerstone of her work is compassion and respect. Dr. Shaikh’s goal is to develop a collaborative relationship with patients, and work closely with them to identify therapeutic goals.

She helps her patients gain a better understanding of their own thoughts and feelings in an effort to improve their quality of life. Dr. Shaikh utilizes an integrative approach to therapy, customizing therapy interventions to fit the patient’s needs. Dr. Shaikh works with a variety of patients, including adults and adolescents, treating issues such as anxiety, trauma, depression and mood disorders.

Dr. Shaikh specializes in women’s health, including prenatal/postpartum depression, anxiety, and life transitions. She has over 9 years of experience as an Assistant Professor of Psychology both in undergraduate and graduate programs, and has helped teach and develop courses such as Violence Against Women, Stigma & Prejudice, Mulitcultural Psychology, Clinical Interviewing & Diagnostic Skills and Supervision & Consultation.

She also published her first book “The Paradox of Honor” on the topic of honor killing in South Asia, and has studied the topic of violence against women over the years. She has held a National Register Health Service Psychologist credential since 2017. Dr. Shaikh has also been approved to practice teletherapy through The Psychology Interjurisdictional Compact (PSYPACT) in 27 states.

When she’s not providing care for her patients, Dr. Shaikh can be found spending time with her family, She considers herself a TV show connoisseur, loves to travel, and enjoys getting adventurous with her cooking (as long as it’s spicy, she’ll approve).
